The couple
Daniela and Andrea are an Italian couple from the far north who decided to celebrate their fairytale wedding in southern Italy, in an enchanted villa surrounded by greenery, with a fantastic terrace overlooking the infinity of the Amalfi Coast. They got married on July 12th in Ravello in the famous Villa Cimbrone.
I met Daniela, Andrea and their two splendid little children at Easter for their inspection of the location and a relationship of mutual respect and trust was immediately established.
The bride
On the wedding day, as in the best fairy tales, the beautiful bride Daniela leaves Villa Cimbrone, after her meticulous preparation (bridal makeup and hairstyle can take a long time!) and reaches the gardens of the Principessa di Piemonte (Princess of Piedmont), where Andrea is waiting for her.
The groom
The welcome bag
Along the way that connects the Princess of Piedmont Belvedere with the central square of Ravello, a hostess gives guests a personalized welcome bag, hand-painted with the logo of bride and groom, with everything needed to make the path and the whole day as pleasant as possible: a pair of slippers, a bottle of water, heel savers, a shawl to cover the shoulders and some mints.
Local musicians accompany the newlyweds and their guests on the way to Villa Cimbrone, playing guitar and mandolin. Beautiful scenes, especially good for the photographer, who shoot on the reflections in the ceramic mirrors of the boutiques.
The civil ceremony
The civil ceremony is held in a natural green garden, set up with an arch of burgundy and pale pink flowers, overlooking the splendid view of the Amalfi Coast. Beautiful Tuscan wooden chairs are arranged as in an amphitheater and rose petals adorn both sides of the central nave.
On each chair, the guests found a hand-painted fan, small ceramic tiles and a map, also hand-painted by a local artist, which illustrated the itinerary of the wedding day.
Villa Cimbrone
The large and ancient wooden door of the villa opens wide with the arrival of the spouses: this is the typical wedding picture with which the itinerant reception begins. The first step is the aperitif in the first garden, after which bride and groom continue towards the Terrace of the Infinity.
The reception
The next stop is the wedding lunch for which newlyweds and guests descend into the crypt, a magnificent room with a cross vault of Gothic arches and a breathtaking view of the Amalfi Coast.
Here two long imperial tables have been set up, decorated with splendid burgundy and blush pink flowers, gold-colored candelabra with pink candles, golden-plate placemats and golden chiavarine chairs.
The menus made of Amalfi paper were rolled up and kept closed by silk ribbons and ostrich feathers, colored for the special occasion in an antique pink color by the talented Alessia of In Love Atelier, who participated in the design of the whole event and also colored the burgundy silk ribbons that adorned the bride's bouquet and the chairs used during the ceremony.
The wedding cake
After the wedding reception they move back to the garden near the fountain where the cutting of the wedding cake (a naked cake with edible flowers) takes place accompanied by a romantic guitar serenade.
Finally, they move to a wonderful garden, overlooking the coast, illuminated by so many lights that looks like a nativity scene.
The launch of the bride’s bouquet
In this garden there is a dance floor with a fairy lights ceiling where a very original launch of the bouquet takes place: there are as many colored ribbons as there are unmarried ladies, only one ribbon is tied to the bouquet while the others are kept in the bride’s hand. The moment everyone pulls her ribbon, only who pulls the ribbon attached to the bouquet will have the privilege of its delivery.
Until midnight Daniela, Andrea, their children and guests have danced with an open bar and a huge dessert buffet. Everything has been studied in detail to ensure the success of the event and the whole day of celebrations.
The bride's review
