For Peter and Kristan, who love traveling around the world, a destination wedding in Italy was a life-dream that became true once they saw NH Hotel Convento di Amalfi.
Inspired by the wonderful venue and by the sweetness of the couple, I’ve been glad to plan and detail their elegant and timeless wedding.
“Who doesn’t want to get married in Italy?! The food is AMAZING, we also LOVE wine, and the landscape and art in Italy is beyond words! We were extremely lucky to find Ines and her husband Adriano and we visited Amalfi back in October, 2018. The old world style and marble and architecture of the Convento fascinated us! We knew this was where we wanted to get married!” - Peter and Kristan, from North Carolina, got married on Friday, May 17th, 2019 at the NH Collection Grand Hotel Convento di Amalfi in Amalfi, Italy.
The two days destination wedding started with an happy pizza party overlooking the sea, enriched by the local sound of guitar and mandolin. The pre-wedding started at the Amalfi Cinema Iris with a private dance-cinema party for viewing a video of the couple and continued at the Iflama Club where the couple and guests danced all over the night.
Color palette: white, green, black and blush tones
On the wedding day, according to the color palette chosen by the couple, the NH Collection Grand Hotel Convento di Amalfi was adorned with white English roses, small roses and hydrangeas, and green olive, ivy and eucalyptus leaves.
The civil ceremony was held in the magical atmosphere of the 13th century Cloister, with the music of a violin and harp.
The groom
The groom wore a formal black tuxedo.
"As soon as we saw Nh Convento, we couldn’t imagine a more perfect place to say I do. From its beautiful views to the incredible cuisine and wine, Amalfi was everything we had imagined, and we are so blessed to have shared an entire weekend with so many of our loved ones!" - Peter, the groom
The bride
The bride wore a modern, yet very romantic, designer gown with a plunging neckline, an open back and a subtle sparkle belt.
She carried a handheld bridal bouquet of white roses and hydrangeas, green olive, ivy and eucalyptus leaves and black berries, all wrapped with a Mediterranean blue linen ribbon.
The civil ceremony
“We love the natural beauty of the outdoors, and stone is what we love most.”
The wedding dinner
Following the ceremony, the outdoor wedding reception dinner was set on the famous Walk of Monks, overlooking the Amalfi Coast, one of the most exclusive wedding venues in Italy.
There were natural lemons on the table as place settings.
Female guests at the reception were given white paper bamboo handheld fans embellished with hand-painted images of lemons and lemon-leaves.
"We wanted the day to be elegant, but simple and timeless while highlighting the picturesque views of the Amalfi Coast cliffs and stunning coastline. All we ever wanted was a magical night under the stars and our venue provided the perfect romantic setting for us. Our absolute most favorite moment was seeing all of our family and friends sitting together for dinner at one long table under the purple bougainvillea. It's something we will more than likely never see again so in that moment in time it was extra special." - Kristan, the bride
After dinner the newlyweds and their guests enjoyed dancing till late under the starry sky.
At the end of the celebration, each guest received as wedding favor a bottle of limoncello.
"For people who have not been to Amalfi, the entire coast is full of steep mountains with houses scattered everywhere. We came to the bottom of a mountain and saw the entrance to the hotel. There is a small reception and a lift. Once you enter the lift you fly up to the top of the mountain. Oh my, what a view. What a location and Ines couldn't do a better job, she was absolutely perfect! I can try to explain it in words but it was my daughter's dream." - The mother of the bride
